Job Description

Overview of the Position An Official Court Reporter performs court reporting services for any judicial proceeding as required. The position requires verbatim reporting and transcription of courtroom proceedings, reading back from stenographic notes, and maintaining accurate and legible records which are subject to audit. The court reporter is responsible for determining that billing and formats comply with Judicial Conference

Requirements

. This court has a high volume of daily and immediate copy work. Qualifications One year of prime stenographic CAT court reporting experience in the freelance field, in other courts, or a combination thereof is required; however, four years of experience is strongly preferred. Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) certification, or passing an equivalent qualifying examination is also required. Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) and Registered Merit reporter (RMR) certifications are strongly preferred. Employee Benefits During the first three years of full-time employment, employees receive 13 days of paid vacation. Thereafter, between 20 and 26 days of paid vacation are provided, depending upon the length of federal service. Employees receive 13 days of paid sick leave (unlimited accumulation) and twelve paid federal holidays a year. Eligible for medical coverage with pre-tax employee premiums and flexible benefits program for health care, dependent care, and commuter/parking expenses. Eligible for Group Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, and Long-Term Care coverage. Participation in the Thrift Savings Plan (similar to 401K plan) with employer matching contributions. Participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System Creditable service time in other federal agencies or the military will be added to judiciary employment.
