Job Description

Behavioral Health is seeking a Client Benefit Specialist that can work remote within North Dakota.
In this role, you will make a meaningful difference in the lives of North Dakotans by helping individuals access the healthcare coverage and public benefits they need, often during some of life's most challenging moments.
As a Client Benefit Specialist, you will help individuals understand, apply for, and maintain healthcare coverage and other public assistance benefits. You will review referrals from the North Dakota State Hospital and Behavioral Health Clinics to help identify available resources and guide individuals through the application process. You will help ensure people are exploring all benefits they may qualify for, including SNAP, TANF, LIHEAP, and CCAP.
You will also help individuals understand their health insurance options, determine potential eligibility, and complete applications for coverage. This may include assisting with open enrollment, special enrollment periods, and Marketplace identity verification. You will work with insurance providers to resolve coverage issues and coordinate benefits to help ensure individuals receive the coverage they need. You will also work closely with Behavioral Health Clinic Client Access and Client Financial Services teams to communicate eligibility changes and support accurate billing and payments.

You should be someone who enjoys helping others and can remain calm, compassionate, and focused when supporting individuals who may be experiencing difficult or stressful situations. Your ability to explain complex information in a way that is easy to understand will help individuals feel confident and supported as they navigate their options.
You should also be detail-oriented, organized, and able to gather and review important information while meeting deadlines to help individuals obtain and maintain their benefits. Being flexible, adapting to changing priorities, and working collaboratively with others will help you succeed in this role.
Your work will have a direct impact on the lives of some of North Dakota's most vulnerable individuals by helping remove barriers to essential services and connecting people with the resources they need to improve their health, stability, and overall well-being.
To be considered for this position you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle working with clients on health insurance or financial counseling in a healthcare environment.
