THE POSITION
As a Transportation Equipment Operator A with the Department of Transportation, you will help ensure that roadways remain safe and accessible for everyone. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role supports the maintenance and safety of roadways by operating equipment and performing manual labor on a maintenance crew. As a Transportation Equipment Operator A, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned machinery to support roadway and bridge maintenanceTraffic Control: Perform flagger duties to guide and protect traffic when equipment operation is not requiredManual Labor Tasks: Use hand and power tools to complete tasks such as clearing brush, repairing structures, and maintaining work areasEquipment Care: Carry out field adjustments, cleaning, and minor repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation of equipmentSafety Awareness: Follow proper safety procedures, observe work conditions, and report hazards or incidents promptlyEnvironmental Compliance: Apply environmental protection practices required for maintenance activitiesInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.This position may required overtime, dual-shifts, and holiday shifts during storm operations.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,988.00 (before taxes). You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); orGraduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School; orAn equivalent combination of experience and trai
