THE POSITION
Join the Department of Transportation as an Automotive Mechanic and help keep vital equipment moving across the Commonwealth! Your work supports safe and reliable travel for residents every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on maintaining and repairing a variety of vehicles and equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation across the fleet. The work supports the overall mission of the Department of Transportation through consistent upkeep and diagnostic service. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Repair: Repair and overhaul vehicles and equipment including engines, electrical components, and hydraulic systemsPreventative Work: Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to keep vehicles and tools in proper working conditionState Inspections: Carry out official safety and emissions inspections and complete required paperworkDiagnostics Expertise: Identify mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and determine appropriate repair methodsSafety Practices: Maintain a clean and safe work area, as well as follow proper safety proceduresInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: Work hours are subject to change based on operational needs.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes). You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; orAny combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.Special Requirements:This position requires possession of a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license.This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.Additional Requirements: You must obtain a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycl
