THE POSITION
Are you a decisive leader who thrives in all seasons?  If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is seeking a dedicated Highway Foreman 2 to supervise our talented Montgomery County crew.  In this hands-on role, you will manage a team that is responsible for keeping our highways safe and accessible.  You will oversee everything from routine maintenance and repair to operating heavy equipment and snowplows to combat winter weather.  Your work is critical to ensuring the public can travel safely, whether it is the middle of summer or the height of a blizzard.  If you are ready to showcase your proficiency in the field, we invite you to apply today!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Highway Foreman 2, you will be responsible for supervising a highway maintenance crew in the completion of manual labor assignments and the operation of heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair projects on or around assigned highways.  Specific duties entail planning, scheduling, and providing direct guidance to equipment operators and laborers using a variety of heavy construction equipment and hand tools to perform a full range of general highway maintenance activities.  Maintenance tasks may include patching, crack sealing, shoulder stabilization and repair, installation and cleaning of drainage pipes, guide rail installation, roadway sweeping, litter pickup, filling potholes, roadway widening, complaint investigation and resolution, and directing emergency response to snow and ice, storm damage, or vehicle accidents.Within this role, is it essential to maintain clear and accurate records of field work activities and immediately report any unusual occurrences, crew injuries, equipment accidents, or damage and complete follow-up documentation as required.  Safety is a top priority, therefore you will also be responsible for training crew members in the proper use of tools and equipment, proper maintenance manual methods and procedures, and ensuring that materials and workmanship remain in accordance with accepted specifications and standards.Interested in learning more?  Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.  Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.
