THE POSITION
Join a dedicated team that is shaping the future of Pennsylvania’s forests and fuel your passion for conservation. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for a Forest Resilience Program Specialist to play a key role in efforts aimed at sustaining, restoring, and protecting our vital forest ecosystems. In this position, you will advocate for the economic, ecological, and social advantages of trees while enhancing the health and livability of communities in rural, urban, and agricultural areas throughout the state. If you are passionate about conservation and eager to make a meaningful impact on the long-term resilience of our natural landscapes, this is your chance to contribute—apply today and help our forests flourish.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will spearhead the Bureau’s initiative aimed at enhancing the resilience of private forests throughout Pennsylvania. Your primary focus will be on tackling significant issues like climate change, invasive species, and other stressors affecting forests. This involves shaping policies, offering technical guidance, and supporting programs related to ecosystem products and services, particularly forest carbon. Additionally, you will seek ways to incorporate new programs, technologies, and innovations into current wood products markets and educational resources. A key aspect of your role will be to effectively communicate the importance of forestry and its associated products and services as viable solutions to pressing environmental, economic, and social issues. To excel in this role, you will need a solid understanding of forest management, ecosystem services, stewardship incentives for private landowners, adult education, forest health and resilience, the impacts of climate change on forests, climate mitigation strategies, and carbon markets.Interested in learning more?
