THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is currently seeking a motivated and dependable Forest Maintenance Worker to join our team! In this position, you will provide semi-skilled work in the maintenance of forest land and facilities, while playing a vital role in our forest fire protection efforts. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will participate in maintaining the Sproul Forest District, focusing on general upkeep, fire prevention, and various operational and infrastructural tasks. This includes ensuring the integrity of buildings and facilities, maintaining roads and trails, servicing tools and equipment, and preparing for emergency response situations. Additionally, you will be responsible for the following:Maintaining woven wire deer fences and tree shelter plantings Assisting with tree planting projectsPainting, roofing, and pouring concreteMowing grass with power mowers and weed eatersExtinguishing wildfires using hand tools and power water pumpsInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:This is a seasonal, 37.5 hours/week, full-time position with no health care benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2027. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
