THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on maintaining forest facilities, trails, roads, and equipment to support safe and well-kept state forest lands.  Through your work, you will help to ensure that public spaces remain accessible, functional, and ready for both daily use and emergency response.  As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:Facility Care: Maintain buildings, landscapes, fences, signs, and comfort stations through cleaning, repairs, mowing, and upkeepTrail Work: Construct and repair trails, clear vegetation, maintain boundary lines, and support safe accessEquipment Maintenance: Inspect, clean, and complete minor repairs on hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and equipmentEmergency Response: Assist with search and rescue activities, wildfire suppression, fire equipment repair, and other related emergency tasksForest Management: Support tree cutting, planting, pruning, and vegetation treatment to aid forest and wildlife managementChemical Application: Apply herbicides or pesticides under the direction of a certified applicatorInterested in learning more?  Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits.  The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay.  The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.Work hours will be between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday – Friday.  Specifics about work schedules, including the possibility of an alternate work schedule, will be discussed during the inter
