DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role provides a full range of social services within the Psychiatric Forensic Center of Torrance State Hospital to help patients improve social and emotional functioning. You will work with patients, families, staff, and outside partners to plan and deliver care. As a Forensic Social Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:Patient Interviews: Gather and update information on physical, mental, emotional, economic, and social status to assess needsNeeds Assessment: Assess social service needs and provide education to patients and families, conducting individual and group therapy to improve behavior and functioningCare Planning: Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and carry out comprehensive individual care and treatment plansProgress Tracking: Record patient response and progress toward social service goals and keep families and partners informed of statusDischarge Planning: Write discharge or transfer plans that outline dispositions and needed aftercare or follow-up servicesLegal Commitments: Maintain current court commitments, complete recommitment petitions, attend hearings, and update patient chartsInterested in learning more? REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:A bachelor's or master’s degree in social work or social welfare.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.Other Requirements:You must meet the PA residency requirement.
