THE POSITION
The Fire Forester position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a chance to make a real impact on Pennsylvania’s forests and communities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking action, solving problems, and promoting public safety in the outdoors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports wildfire prevention, preparedness, and response throughout the Bald Eagle Forest District. It also includes coordination, training, equipment oversight, and public outreach. As a Fire Forester, you will perform the following duties:Prevention Outreach: Conduct wildfire prevention programs and promote safe practices in local communitiesEmergency Readiness: Maintain strong relationships with response partners and ensure cooperators are trained and preparedEquipment Oversight: Track, maintain, and coordinate wildfire equipment for staff and cooperatorsWildfire Response: Serve in fireline roles, follow incident command protocols, and assist with managing wildfire eventsProgram Coordination: Support the Forest Fire Warden program and provide training, guidance, and communicationReporting Duties: Maintain accurate records, complete wildfire reports, and track training, outreach, and equipmentInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on an ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Millmont. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
