THE POSITION
Join the Department of Transportation as a Driver License Examiner and help people take the next step toward safe and responsible driving. This position gives you hands-on experience with testing, customer service, and identity verification. You will work with a wide range of applicants and provide clear guidance throughout the licensing process. This is a rewarding role that supports your professional growth and strengthens community safety.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on conducting examinations, verifying identity documents, and assisting customers with licensing procedures to ensure safe and lawful driving. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:Applicant Evaluation: Determine driving qualifications and inspect vehicles for required safety featuresTest Administration: Conduct knowledge, vision, pre-trip, skills, and driving tests following established standardsDocument Verification: Review identity records, authenticate documents, and identify possible fraudCustomer Processing: Issue license products and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and license typesRecord Handling: Enter test results, process applications, and prepare restoration requirement lettersPolicy Compliance: Follow REAL ID rules, fee waiver guidelines, and customer service standardsInterested in learning more? REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); orTwo years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.Special Requirements:All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.All positions requir
