THE POSITION
The Dentist position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers a unique chance to provide essential dental care to inmates who rely on your expertise. This role lets you use your clinical skills in a focused, supportive environment where patient needs are clear and consistent. You help improve oral health and provide guidance that strengthens long-term wellness. Join the team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon and make a strong impact through quality care.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on providing dental care, overseeing dental staff, and maintaining safe and efficient clinical operations. It plays a key role in supporting oral health for inmates through treatment, evaluation, and clear communication. As a Dentist, you will perform the following duties:Clinical Examinations: Perform dental evaluations, diagnose conditions, and create treatment plans for inmatesPreventative Care: Provide restorative and preventative treatments and ensure infection control standards are metStaff Supervision: Lead Dental Assistants and Hygienists, provide training, and review work performanceOperational Review: Inspect schedules, records, and documentation to maintain quality and respond to patient concernsQuality Improvement: Evaluate clinic operations and prepare required reports to support continuous improvementSupply Management: Maintain and approve inventory items while ensuring proper security and controlInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per weekWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. You will not be required to work evenings, weekends, or on-call duties.Eligible for full retirement benefits as early as age 55DEA License renewal and liability insurance is covered by the CommonwealthUp to 50 hours of additional paid leave for job-related continuing medical educationTelework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: Competitive, with potential for yearly incentive payments in addition to your standard salary.
