THE POSITION
Join the Department of Corrections as a Corrections Food Service Instructor and help guide meaningful growth! This role allows you to teach practical kitchen skills while supporting a stable and structured environment. You play a key part in helping inmates learn through hands-on training. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads inmate workers and supports safe, efficient food service operations inside the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill. You help guide daily tasks while maintaining strong safety and sanitation standards. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:Food Service Instruction: Teach inmates skills in food preparation, production, service, and bakingSafety And Sanitation: Ensure correct use of tools, equipment, and cleaning methods in all areasMeal Preparation: Prepare meals using recipes and maintain timely meal serviceInspections And Supplies: Inspect food areas and supplies to meet safety and sanitation rulesWork Assignment Planning: Plan and review inmate job duties and performanceInmate Supervision: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during assigned workInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40 hours per weekWork will be determined from the following two schedules, with rotating days off. Shifts are awarded based on bidding and seniority:11:00 AM to 7:00 PMSwing shift: 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM or 11:00 AM to 7:00 PMTelework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.Additional Requirements:Succ
