THE POSITION
Build a rewarding future as a Corrections Counselor 2 with the Department of Corrections (DOC). In this role at State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene, you will support inmates as they address challenges and develop skills for life beyond incarceration. You will help connect individuals with resources, guide them through important decisions, and strengthen their ability to succeed. Your work will contribute to a safer community and a more supportive correctional environment.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides counseling and casework services that support inmate adjustment, issues, and preparation for re-entry. As a Corrections Counselor 2, you will perform the following duties:Inmate Counseling: Interview inmates to address adjustment needs, assist with conflict resolution, and encourage positive behaviorCase Management: Maintain records, prepare reports, and coordinate information with staff and outside agenciesAssessment Review: Analyze aptitude and interest tests, compile socio-demographic histories, and develop case records to guide programming and document inmate progressTreatment Coordination: Work with multi-disciplinary teams to align programming, activities, and behavioral expectationsParole Preparation: Assist with re-entry planning, gather required documents, and prepare parole reports and recommendationsInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40 hours per weekWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,301.00 (before taxes). You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Successful completion of the Corrections Counselor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) training program; orOne year of professional counseling or casework experience in a correctional facility, and a bachelor’s degree including 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training tha
