Introduction
Maryland's Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program makes sure all workers in Maryland have paid time off for medical and family reasons. FAMLI is a social insurance system covering 2.6 million workers and 180,000 employers, delivered as a digitally native, public-facing service. We're in the early stages of building something as big and as far-reaching as unemployment insurance or a new health department. We know that delivering services primarily through a website, over the Internet, is a new way of doing business in government.
The Financial Services Directorate is responsible for establishing and maintaining an efficient financial system, including internal controls and financial procedures, for the FAMLI Division. The Financial Services Directorate safeguards FAMLI funds and other assets, manages FAMLI contributions and benefits payouts, develops financial reports, prepares budgets and projections, and designs and conducts internal audits, as well as responding to external financial audits.
The Accounts Payable Accountant II plays a pivotal role within the Accounting Team and the overall FAMLI Financial Services. This position will work closely with the Accounts Payable Supervisor in examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles to modify and maintain FAMLI accounting systems, prepare financial reports or statements, and give fiscal advice. This position manages accounts payable and bank funds, performs reconciliations, and generates financial analyses to support team closings and audit compliance. This position requires the financial acumen to provide insightful recommendations to various stakeholders and contribute to the overall fiscal health and operational success of FAMLI. If you are a proactive financial professional with a passion for public service, this is the job for you!
Resumes may be submitted as supplemental information; however, all sections of the application must be completed in full. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
