PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON, CORRECTIONAL FACILITY (INTERNAL MED/FAMILY PRACTICE) $153.91 - $171.00 hourly rate This is a limited term position which may be extended. This Job Control is listed Until Filled. Applications will be reviewed on the following dates: 8/7/26, 8/21/26, 9/4/26, 9/18/26, 10/2/26, 10/16/26, 10/30/26, 11/13/26, 11/27/26, 12/11/26 California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking P hysicians currently employed with the state of California who are interested in additional appointments to provide coverage in a part-time capacity, up to 40 hours per month. These uncommon positions are available to all Physicians & Surgeons currently employed by the State of California.  Due to the nature of these dual appointments, the only stipulation is that the additional appointment must be a distinctly different role than your primary job, and you cannot be a supervisor, manager, or executive. Onsite dual appointments at your primary institution may be available. Additional Information: Time worked is not considered overtime. Time worked will be outside your normal hours. Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting. Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter. If using academic education above the twelfth grade to meet minimum qualifications, include a copy of your degree and/or Informal (Unofficial) School Transcripts. In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners and Possession of a valid certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Board as a specialist in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine .
