Job Description
Provide primary health care to adolescent youth.
Assess the physical and psychosocial status of youth by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests from admission through discharge.
Perform health examinations in accordance with OCFS policy and protocols.
Provide routine medical evaluations, treat acute non-emergent illnesses, and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
Manage chronic conditions.
Prescribe medications, treatments, devices, and immunizing agents.
Consult on co-occurring physical and behavioral health treatment needs.
Document patient encounters, consultation notes, and treatment plans in paper health records and some electronic application platform.
Order and interpret routine laboratory tests or diagnostic imaging.
Ensure facility compliance with state health regulations and safety standards.
Provide medical clearance evaluations for facility discharges.
Provide after-hours and weekend telephone consultation for urgent health-related matters.

Minimum Qualifications:
Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.
OR
Open to the Public: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, if the candidate meets the below NY HELPS minimum qualifications:
Must be licensed AND currently registered to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health by the New York State Education Department.
Must maintain a valid New York State license and registration.
This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
