About the Agency

At the Mississippi State Personnel Board, we work each day to recruit and retain public servants who are committed to helping the people of Mississippi. We serve state employees and job seekers and strive to help state agencies achieve their missions through their employees.

About the Position

The Mississippi State Personnel Board is seeking a practical, forward-thinking Director of Talent Acquisition to modernize how our state hires top talent. The ideal candidate is a proven recruiter or hiring leader who knows how to move an organization past outdated, process-heavy practices and into proactive, modern talent acquisition strategies. Reporting to the Director of Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment, you will have the backing and authority to fix legacy systems, introduce better sourcing tools, and build strong candidate pipelines across state agencies. Resumes can be emailed to Ryan.Beard@mspb.ms.gov

What you'll need to be Successful

We are looking for an experienced, high-impact hiring leader who knows how to run effective recruitment operations and isn't afraid to drive meaningful change. The ideal candidate will have: • Proven leadership experience running recruitment functions at a senior level, whether in the private sector or a progressive public organization. • Hands-on experience with modern hiring platforms, applicant tracking systems, candidate relationship management (CRM) tools, and employer marketing. • Strong communication skills to advise, guide, and build trust with executive leaders and agency heads across the state. • A practical approach to data, using hiring stats, market trends, and pipeline metrics to fix bottlenecks and shorten time-to-hire. • A constructive disrupter mindset—someone who naturally looks for ways to optimize systems, speed up hiring, improve the applicant experience, and position the State of Mississippi as an employer of choice.
