Job Description

Summary

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-WDST99 US ARMY SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND.

Duties

Serve as the Special Security Officer (SSO) managing the operation of the Special Security Office for the 4/160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) {SOAR} (A).

Develop procedures for and conducts limited surveys of industrial or other private facilities where such facilities are to engage in organization projects.

Acquaint the facility personnel with security matters and procedures, and alerts them to the dangers of compromising classified material.

Control access to the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) by maintaining Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access rosters.

Serve as the focal point for SCI by ensuring that all SCI is properly accounted for, controlled, transmitted, transported, packaged, safeguarded, and destroyed.

Review automation security hardware and/or software baseline and configuration, and recommends appropriate actions to Configuration Control Board.

Recommend changes in security measures to reduce or eliminate areas of vulnerability.

Advise supervisor of recommended policy and/or procedural changes.

Conduct a continuing SCI security education training and awareness program to ensure that all SCI indoctrinated individuals are kept apprised of the requirements and guidelines for protecting SCI.

This position requires a 2 year trial period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). OR A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as National Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations/Foreign Affairs, Geography, Security Management/Administrations, Criminal Justice, Psychology, History, or Law.
