Overview

The Manager of Shipyard Facilities Planning will lead strategic planning and operational oversight for the shipyard's physical footprint and real estate portfolio. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining the Shipyard Master Plan, optimizing space utilization, managing real estate activities, coordinating office moves and renovations, overseeing space‑planning tools, and ensuring facilities align with evolving business requirements. The manager will collaborate closely with Operations, Facilities, Engineering, Finance, and other organizations to support long‑term growth and day‑to‑day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Shipyard Master Plan Management

Develop, maintain, and update the shipyard's comprehensive master plan.

Assess future operational and strategic needs to guide long‑term facility and infrastructure planning.

Work with leadership to ensure alignment with business growth and objectives

Space Planning

Lead space‑utilization and planning initiatives across shipyard facilities.

Conduct assessments to improve workflow, efficiency, and utilization.

Manage and maintain space‑planning tools for tracking office space usage, allocation, and inventory.

Office Moves & Space Renovations

Plan and manage office relocations, reconfigurations, and expansions.

Direct renovation projects from concept through final completion.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Enablement of Business Requirements

Ensure shipyard facilities assets support operational, staffing, and strategic needs.

Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective physical space solutions.

Anticipate needs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and support growth.

Leadership & Team Development

Serve as a proven leader capable of developing, mentoring, and guiding teams of professionals.

Build and sustain a high‑performing team through clear direction, support, and professional development.

Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions‑oriented work environment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience leading and developing professional teams

Experience in facilities planning, real estate management, or capital project management

Strong strategic planning, organizational, and analytical abilities

Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously

Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills

Familiarity with industrial or shipyard environments preferred

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree OR a High School diploma & 8+ years of Military experience OR equivalent leadership experience

5+ years of experience managing teams with direct reports

8+ years of project or program manager experience

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management

Shipyard experience

Experience with engineering requirements for manufacturing and office buildings and systems

Skills

Microsoft Office Suite

Oracle Business Systems

Experience in strategic planning

Experience with gathering, tracking and validating end user requirements

Experience with project management
