THE POSITION
Join the Department of Transportation as a PennDOT CDL Operator and help maintain the roads that millions rely on each day! This role fits individuals who enjoy active outdoor work and operating heavy machinery. You will support construction and maintenance efforts that keep travel safe and efficient. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on operating highway construction and maintenance equipment while performing manual labor to support roadway and bridge crews. The role plays an important part in keeping roads safe and functional for all travelers. As a PennDOT CDL Operator, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned equipment to support highway and bridge projectsLicense Requirements: Maintain a valid CDL without the air brake restriction and complete required equipment certificationsTraffic Control: Perform flagging duties to assist with safe traffic movement when equipment is not being usedManual Labor Work: Use hand tools and motorized tools to complete tasks such as cutting brush, clearing culverts, and repairing guiderailsEquipment Care: Complete daily inspections, make minor repairs, and perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipmentSafety Awareness: Follow safety procedures, stay aware of work zones, and report any injuries or equipment incidents immediatelyWork Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Hours are subject to change due to weather and seasonTelework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,888.00 (before taxes).  You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
