THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Equipment Operator with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, you will be integral to maintaining the safety and efficiency of our roadways, particularly during the demanding winter season when snow removal is crucial. Your responsibilities will not only include snow plowing but also extend to various construction projects, where your expertise significantly influences the infrastructure and safety of the traveling public. Each day will present you with the opportunity to engage in physically demanding tasks, highlighting the importance of collaboration and commitment among your team. In your role, you will operate heavy machinery while also being responsible for performing minor repairs and conducting routine maintenance on your equipment and vehicles. Additionally, you will maintain detailed records by completing daily logs and reports that track equipment usage and maintenance history. This meticulous documentation is essential for ensuring operational efficiency and promoting accountability within the team. At the end of each day, you can take pride in knowing that your efforts contribute significantly to enhancing road safety and improving the quality of life for many residents. The fulfillment derived from a job well done, coupled with the understanding that you are making a positive impact in your community, makes your position as an Equipment Operator exceptionally rewarding.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours are subject to change based on weather/season, with winter shifts 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PMTelework:  You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.  You will receive further communication regarding this position
