Job Description

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. The NDI Quality Inspector IV performs nondestructive testing to verify the structural integrity of composite fight hardware, uses conventional and automated ultrasonic, radiographic, Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and other NDI test methods, e.g., FPI, IRT and performs NDI on aircraft parts and evaluate test results by analyzing and interpreting the data in accordance with customer requirements. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Undertaking training in NDI Methods to achieve Level 2 in Eddy Current, Fluorescent Penetrant, Radiographic, Magnetic Particle and Ultrasonic Testing to Specification NAS-410. Implementing Procedures, Instruction & Techniques as required. Performing Control Checks on Test Method capability. Documenting and advising local team members of test outcomes. Review and implement customer requirements, such as: Engineering Drawings, Process Specifications, and other industry standards. Develop and maintain processes, test methodology and procedures. Understand manufacturing methods and part construction, as it relates to the NDI data. Operate ultrasonic equipment, such as a-scan & resonance scopes, phased array equipment and automated scanning systems. Operate test equipment, such as robotic scanners and computed radiography data acquisition systems. Other test equipment may include eddy current scopes and CT gantry systems. Identify and investigate new technologies, processes, and/or procedures to maintain or improve NDI capabilities, efficiencies, etc. Interface with engineers, internal & external customers, manufacturing personnel, and management to improve processes. Provide guidance, leadership, and instruction to other NDI technicians. Integrate improvements to realize benefits in cost, cycle, and customer satisfaction, and perform other assignments and tasks as directed. Will be asked to perform mechanical inspections as well, such as complex dimensional and visual inspection of machined and fabricated parts. Interpret GD&T and use precision measuring equipment. Support internal, customer, regulatory, and quality system audits with accurate inspection records.
