Job Description

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as a Lead Police Officer assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at Installation Management Command supported installations. This position responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.

Duties

Directly responsible for three or more for Department of the Army Civilian Police Officers, Military Policeman and on some installation, Department of the Army Security Guards, while on shift as outlined in the Patrol Distribution Plan.

Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive.

Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques, and provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures.

Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) and breathalyzer.

Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.

Operates the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.

Requirements

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing guidance related to law enforcement duties to other police officers; utilizing standard law enforcement policies or procedures; and reviewing law enforcement reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
