The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation Valdez District is looking for a Full-Time Equipment Operator Journey 2 to help us
Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
Equipment Operator Journey 2:
Operate 8-yard dump trucks with plow, sander, and blade attachments for snow removal and aggregate hauling
Use motor graders for ditching, surface repair, and snow operations
Transport heavy equipment with semi-tractors, lowboys, belly dumps, and water tankers
Operate dozers (D4-D7), loaders, and snow blowers for material handling and snow removal
Perform loader work in pits, snow dumping, and material loading
Handle general duties: flagging, maintenance, manual labor, and shop cleanup
May act as lead, entering daily data into the State MMS system
Operate steam boilers to thaw drainage structures
Weld and cut materials for equipment maintenance and repair

This is a full-time position located in Cordova, Alaska, within the Valdez District. Expect a dynamic, fast-paced environment with varied responsibilities and conditions. You'll work independently and as part of a team, often in challenging weather or terrain. Shift work and emergency responses are part of the role, and safety is a priority.
