About the Position

This is a time limited position (NS-14). Responsible for carrying out a broad and complex range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the research, surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries. Work involves overseeing and conducting advanced-level professional epidemiologic work by managing methods of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data related to leading causes of morbidity and mortality. This level of epidemiologic work includes developing and designing methods of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data and requires general and, in some cases, specific understanding of program processes and methods for prevention, intervention, and control of diseases of public health importance. Prepares presentations, technical reports on epidemiologic studies, and data for internal use as well as professional publications. Participates in interdepartmental work groups responsible for analysis of epidemiologic data. Responds to public inquiries related to specific diseases and/or other health issues. Conducts studies designed to identify segments of the population at greatest risk of acquiring specific diseases or conditions and identify risk factors associated with each. Assists in preparing grant proposals, presents to various funding agencies for public health activities, and serves as the technical advisor in the design and execution of interdisciplinary projects.
