THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
You will participate in a comprehensive 12-month training program that includes enhanced supervision, formal education, and guidance in conducting field inspections. Working under the direction of the Water Quality Specialist Supervisor, your role will focus on Environmental Protection, specifically within the storage tank program. You will be tasked with various responsibilities throughout the Northeast Region to ensure compliance with the Commonwealth's storage tank regulations. Your primary goal will be to support compliance efforts and perform inspections of regulated facilities to confirm their adherence to the Storage Tank Act and Chapter 245. This position will involve investigating complaints to assess potential violations of the Storage Tank Act, Chapter 245, or the PA Clean Streams Law, as well as overseeing regulated storage tank facilities to ensure they meet the Commonwealth’s standards. You will conduct inspections of both underground and aboveground storage tank systems, engage in escalated enforcement actions when necessary, and deploy absorbent materials or construct interceptor trenches as required. Additionally, you will collect water, air, and soil samples, input sample data into the SIS, review results, and communicate findings to property owners. Lastly, you will evaluate third-party inspection reports for completeness and compliance with the relevant regulations.Interested in learning more?
