OCE is dedicated to enforcing the City of Houston's (City) Infrastructure Design Manual for both public and private capital improvement within the City's right-of-way.

Key Responsibilities:
Coordinates traffic engineering review activities and traffic group personnel. Reviews the Access Management submittals and Traffic Impact Studies. Reviews private development plans, public plans for any improvements in the City Right of way, Capital Improvement projects (CIP), Traffic Control Plans, and Right of Way Encroachments for compliance with State and Federal Regulations, the City's Code of Ordinance, and the City's Infrastructure Design Manual to ensure the safe design and construction. Assist the Supervising and Managing Engineers to complete tasks and special projects as required. Provides guidance to consultants, developers, contractors, and the public with regards to engineering design requirements. Involvement in public meetings and answering public queries. Requires ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and provide excellent customer relations. Managing various tasks of the traffic group. Supervise graduate engineers, including providing guidance to perform their assigned tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has some discretion about walking, standing, bending, lifting etc.This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering that is approved by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers as of satisfactory standing, and possession of a valid Engineering-in-Training Certificate issued by the Board under the current requirements of the Texas Engineering Practice Act. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSNo experience is required.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid Engineering-in-Training Certificate issued by the Board under the current requirements of the Texas Engineering Practice Act.Must obtain a Professional Engineer license from the State of Texas within seven years from hire date as an Engineer-In-Training with the City of Houston.

A valid Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston 's policy on driving. Preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate proficiency using Rules & Regulations Technical Standards and Microsoft Office applications.
