The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is the state's lead economic and community development agency. Additionally, MDA attracts millions of visitors to the state each year through Visit Mississippi, the tourism division of the agency. About the Position
MDA is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Generalist/Supervisor to serve as the Deputy, Human Resources Director. This role will focus on recruiting top talent, developing and implementing training programs, and enhancing employee retention strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR, excellent communication skills, and a passion for fostering a positive work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment
• Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
• Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and provide guidance on job descriptions and interview techniques.
• Use a variety of channels, including, but not limited to, job boards, social media, networking events, and referrals to attract candidates.
• Manage job postings, screen resumes, and coordinate interview schedules.
• Maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for future openings.
Training and Development
• Design and implement comprehensive training programs for new hires and existing employees.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and develop customized training solutions.
Employee Retention
• Develop and implement employee retention strategies to reduce turnover.
• Conduct exit interviews and analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement.
• Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement initiatives.
• Provide career development support and guidance to employees.
• Monitor employee satisfaction and address any concerns or issues promptly.
Generalist Duties
• Assist with employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with HR policies and employment laws.
• Support HR initiatives and projects as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records
Supervisory Duties
• Supervise and mentor HR staff, providing guidance and support.
