THE POSITION
Join the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest as a Corrections Food Service Instructor and help lead a fast-paced and productive kitchen environment. You will teach practical skills that support personal growth and future opportunities for inmates. Each day brings new challenges that keep your work engaging and purposeful. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads and trains inmate workers in daily food service operations, ensuring safe practices and consistent meal preparation. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:Food Instruction: Teach inmates food preparation, production, baking, and safe equipment useSanitation Oversight: Inspect food areas and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standardsInventory Management: Requisition, receive, store, and rotate food and supplies using first-in, first-out methodsWork Assignment: Plan and review inmate work duties and maintain performance recordsCustody Supervision: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during work assignmentsInterested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment, 40 hours per weekWork hours are to be determined. Available shifts: 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM (1st shift) or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM (2nd shift), both shifts include rotating days off.This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.Additional Requirements:Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.You must be able to perform essential job functions.Leg
