THE POSITION
The Corrections Food Service Instructor position at the Department of Corrections, SCI-Camp Hill offers a meaningful way to support daily operations. This role places you at the center of a fast-paced food service environment that relies on teamwork. You will guide and encourage inmate workers as they learn valuable skills and support meal preparation. Join a team that values responsibility, structure, and professional growth.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position leads inmate workers in food service tasks and supports safe, efficient meal production at SCI-Camp Hill. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will perform the following duties:Vocational Training: Teach inmates food preparation, baking, equipment use, and safe sanitation practicesOperational Oversight: Inspect food areas and supplies, adjust recipes, and ensure proper storage methodsWork Supervision: Plan and review inmate assignments and maintain records of performanceCustody Control: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during work activitiesResource Management: Receive, store, and track food items and supplies using established proceduresInterested in learning more? This is shift work with rotating days off. Shifts are awarded based on bidding and seniority. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.Additional Requirements:You must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal Requirements: You must pass a backgr
