Job Description
Schedule:
Temporary Part-time (25 hours a week)
This position is responsible for:
Under the general direction of the Corps Officer, the Corps Helper assists with functions and duties of Corps Social Services department. He/she assists with general Corps programming; prepares statistical reports (if necessary), assists with Custodial duties. Plans, prepares, food boxes to help out with Social Service food program. Prepares or assists in preparing statistical reports related to the Community Care Ministry.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists Corps Officer with development and evaluation of Corps programming; suggests alternative programming ideas and materials; assists in evaluating overall program effectiveness and follows through on new program ideas.
Assists the organization with the Christmas fundraising efforts as directed. Participates and assists with the Corps programming as may be necessary.
Arranges for or drives Salvation Army vehicle; transports Corps members and participants to/from Corps programs; operates vehicles in compliance with established policies and procedures. Reports discipline problems which occur while transporting children.
Invites interested people and program constituents to corps meetings; develops, plans, evaluates, and leads community outreach with the purpose of Corps growth. For special days, serves as outreach worker (I.e. Super Sundays, Easter, Harvest Festival, etc).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements Ability to read, write and communicate the English language
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically
Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, adding machine, etc.
Ability and licensed to drive a vehicle.
Ability to interact professionally with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff. Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, walking and/or driving a vehicle.
Duties may also require ability to lead and participate in recreational and/or athletic/sports programs.
Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED
AND
Two years' experience participating in ministerial work; AND
Must be an active Salvationist in good standing.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid State Driver's License required:
Approved Background Check and Motor Vehicle Request, required.
