About the Position

*This is a non-state service, time-limited position. * Responsible for the overall fiscal health of the program. This includes managing the budget, projecting revenue from licensure fees, and ensuring accurate reporting for the MDHS grant. Conducts staffing analyses to ensure the division has the necessary surveyor density to meet statutory inspection frequencies. Interagency Liaison (MDHS): Serves as the primary point of contact for the Mississippi Department of Human Services. Manages the operational deliverables of the interagency agreement, ensuring that MSDH licensure activities support the state's broader Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) goals. Regulatory Stewardship: Manages the life cycle of childcare regulations. Reviews current standards against national best practices and drafts proposed amendments for the Mississippi State Board of Health to ensure regulations remain relevant and effective. Personnel & Operations: Handles high-level personnel issues and disciplinary actions, fostering a culture of accountability across the statewide team.

What you'll need to be Successful

Success in this role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to direct the overall work program and supervise staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to represent the department at advisory council meetings and maintain relationships with national and state organizations. The ability to analyze complex regulations and legislation is critical. Finally, adaptability is essential to support the agency during public health emergencies or disaster response activities.
