DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As the Community Forestry Section Chief, you will lead the Bureau of Forestry’s Community Forestry Program which has broad goals of increasing and enhancing community tree canopy through community engagement, education, outreach, workforce development, and capacity building.  The focus of this position is to build trust and local capacity through Commonwealth investments in funding, technical assistance, and partnerships.Through your duties, you will work to deliver the United State Forest Service (USFS) Urban and Community Forestry Program for Pennsylvania.  Specific responsibilities will entail evaluating grant opportunities and managing grants, including submitting applications, completing reports, tracking funding and budgets, and coordinating with DCNR’s Fiscal Office.  You will assist the bureau in developing programming and education regarding the benefits of trees, forests, and native plants, in addition to supporting and developing policies that advance community forestry and native vegetation across the Commonwealth.  Supervisory responsibilities will involve providing leadership and direction to program staff, providing effective training opportunities, conducting employee performance reviews, managing program funds and budgets, and much more.
