About the Role

Join our ARC Command Center team as a Bookkeeper where you'll play a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of our Adult Rehabilitation Centers. This position combines technical accounting expertise with meaningful work that directly supports our mission to transform lives and strengthen communities. You'll work with cutting-edge accounting software and collaborate with a dedicated team committed to excellence in financial stewardship.

Compensation Package:

$20/Hour
- Competitive rate for the market

36.25 Hours/Week
- Excellent work-life balance

Hybrid Schedule:
Work from home 1 day per week after 90 days OR 4 day workweek

Key Responsibilities

Financial Transaction Processing

Process various financial transactions using The Salvation Army's accounting software

Post journal entries, analyze financial information, and prepare comprehensive financial reports

Code, review, scan, and post accounts payable invoices and process checks efficiently

Prepare AR invoices for internal and external vouchers billing and reconciliation

Identify and post incoming wire transfers accurately

Daily Operations & Reconciliations

Match store deposits to daily sales and credit card postings with precision

Process daily reconciliations for ARCs and stores

Assist with store and operating account bank reconciliations

Monitor compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Salvation Army accounting processes

Maintain open AR files and communicate effectively with customers and the ARCC Accountant

Vendor Management & Reporting

Obtain and maintain vendor W-9 forms and banking information for ACH payments

Prepare store sales, rags sales, and vehicle sales reports

Assist with preparing eligible vendors for year-end 1099 processing

Support internal audit preparations as needed

Collaborative Support

Work closely with ARC Accountants and the Director of Finance to ensure timely month-end and year-end closing

Provide exceptional support to team members and maintain positive working relationships

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance department

What You'll Need to Succeed

Required Experience & Skills

2+ years bookkeeping/accounting experience
- We value practical experience

Proficiency in accounting software
- QuickBooks, Sage, or similar programs

Some Excel skills

Experience with multi-location accounting
preferred but not required

Strong attention to detail
- Accuracy is essential in financial work

Excellent communication skills
- You'll work with diverse teams and external contacts

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting/bookkeeping degree OR equivalent experience
- We value both paths

Experience in non-profit or multi-location operations
is a plus

Comfortable with technology
- Ability to learn new systems quickly

Problem-solving mindset
- Able to identify and resolve discrepancies independently

Collaborative team player
who enjoys helping others succeed

Schedule & Work Environment

Schedule:
Monday to Friday with excellent work-life balance

Location:
Professional office environment with remote work opportunity

Flexibility:
Occasional evening or Saturday overtime may be required
