THE POSITION
Join the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) as an Automotive Mechanic and bring your skills to Fort Indiantown Gap. This role gives you a chance to work on a wide range of vehicles and equipment that support important daily operations. You will take on hands-on challenges that keep the facility running efficiently. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on repairing and maintaining automotive equipment and machinery used across Fort Indiantown Gap. It involves hands-on mechanical work that ensures dependable operation of a wide range of vehicles and equipment. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:Engine Repair: Perform major and minor repairs on gasoline and diesel enginesEquipment Service: Repair and maintain equipment such as backhoes, loaders, tractors, mowers, and generatorsVehicle Maintenance: Repair mechanical defects and replace parts including brakes, clutches, and transmissionsDiagnostic Testing: Test engines to identify causes of malfunction or mechanical failureSafety Inspection: Inspect vehicles for proper safety and compliance with regulationsRecord Keeping: Prepare repair records, maintenance reports, and parts requestsInterested in learning more? REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; orAny combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.Special Requirements:You must possess a current and valid Pennsylvania driver's license.Additional Requirements:You must obtain and maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.You m
