Job Description
Transportation Engineer 3, In-House Design for bridge and structure type projects. This position will be a District 11 employee that will report to District 4 Headquarters in Akron, Ohio. You will be asked to manage projects in District 11.
What you will do as a Project Engineer:
Manage the plan development of multiple complex in-house designed and consultant designed transportation projects through preliminary engineering and detailed design for bridge and structure type projects in District 11.
Actively manage the project scope, budget, and delivery of projects on schedule.
Lead/facilitate meetings to resolve engineering, NEPA, budgetary and all other challenges impacting project delivery and cost.
Coordinate with stakeholders, local agencies, and internal staff.

Qualifications
Licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as group or project leader providing work direction & training to engineering technicians &/or lower-level engineers or 12 mos. exp. in conducting engineering related research (i.e., conducting engineering related research only applies to staff specialist positions); if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
-Or licensed as registered professional engineer by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 2, 85642; if assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to & inspect project sites, must possess valid driver's license.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.

Supplemental Information
All bargaining unit and exempt new hires to ODOT must serve a one year probationary period.
This position is overtime exempt based on FLSA Standards.
If this position is filled internally, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code.

This position has been designated as a Career Professional position per the Ohio Revised Code 5501.20.
