Job Description
Manhattan Psychiatric Center (MPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists for their Transition to Home (THU) team. The THU team provides a multi-disciplinary approach to care for individuals who have a history of homelessness. The goals of the THU team are to develop personalized treatment plans for active rehabilitation and reintegration to the community.
As a Psychiatrist at MPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and recovery- focused treatments to individuals with mental health symptoms 18 years of age or older; including:
• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments and patient admissions
• Overseeing an average caseload of 8 - 13 individuals
• Creating treatment plans including medication management
• Providing individual and group psychotherapy
• Coordinating closely with community providers, housing agencies, and social service organizations
• Assisting in transitioning individuals to permanent housing with the resources necessary to maintain recovery and reduce further hospital utilization

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Requirements
