JOB DESCRIPTION

is seeking a Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Crystal City, VA. This role designs, develops, deploys, and sustains innovative software and data capabilities as a member of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team. You will work across the application stack to build analytic frontends, production APIs, data integration services, reporting interfaces, and supporting data layers that transform complex data and analytic methods into practical, reliable capabilities supporting critical customer requirements.

As a

Principal Full Stack Software Engineer
, you will quickly turn complex data, analytic requirements, and emerging concepts into usable software capabilities that deliver critical insights to end users. You will work closely with analysts, data scientists, and other technical specialists to solve difficult technical problems, rapidly prototype new applications and workflows, and transition successful solutions into repeatable, maintainable, and operational

software

capabilities.

JOB DUTIES

(INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO)

Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code while adhering to best practices and coding standards.

Design, build, and

maintain

data analytics web applications, dashboards, and user-facing analytics experiences using

Streamlit

or similar technologies.

Develop interactive data products that enable users to explore, visualize, filter, and interpret complex datasets.

Build and integrate backend services, APIs, and data access layers using Python frameworks such as

FastAPI

or similar technologies.

Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and aggregation capabilities to help ensure

accurate

and

timely

analytics.

Work with relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL, supporting data integrity, performance, and efficient query design.

Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.

Create reusable software components and data services that support reporting, visualization, workflow automation, and operational analytics.

Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments, including Docker-based environments, to enable repeatable builds and reliable releases.

Implement and

maintain

version control using Git to support collaboration and code management.

Apply software engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, testability, and reliability of analytics applications.

Ensure developed solutions meet required security, quality, and compliance standards.

Contribute to all stages of the software development life cycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, sustainment, and enhancement.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.

Experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code.

Hands-on experience developing software applications that support data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or operational data products.

Experience with front-end development using

Streamlit

or similar technologies for interactive analytics applications.

Working knowledge of web technologies, RESTful APIs, containerization, backend services, and user interface development.

Experience building and

maintaining

backend solutions using Python frameworks such as

FastAPI

or similar tools.

Familiarity with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.

Experience writing SQL queries to support analytics, reporting, and application functionality.

Understanding of data quality, data validation, data transformation, and basic data modeling concepts.

Experience with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment practices.

Proficiency

in implementing and

maintaining

version control using Git.

Hands-on experience with full stack development and understanding of the software development life cycle.

DESIRED SKILLS

Experience developing analytics dashboards, operational reporting tools, or mission-focused data applications.

Experience with data visualization libraries or platforms such as

Streamlit
, Superset, or similar tools.

Familiarity with ETL workflows, data pipelines, or automated data processing jobs.

Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, managed databases, object storage, or cloud deployment environments.

Experience working with data from multiple source systems.

Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, access control, and data security best practices.

Experience troubleshooting application, database, or query performance issues.

Ability to translate stakeholder requirements into technical tasks and user-facing analytics capabilities.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The likely salary range for this position is $140,250 - $189,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
