Overview

This position is located in Kittery, Maine.

Maintenance and Modernization has an opening for a highly motivated individuals to support the Alteration Industrial Team (AIT).

A Manufacturing Technician is a multi-disciplined person that must have one or more skills within the trades such as Welders, Electricians, Pipefitters, Shipfitters, Inside / Outside Machinists and Sheetmetal workers. Preference will be given to Electrical trades.

This position is responsible for performing submarine shipboard and manufacturing work to support new construction and maintenance efforts within the shipyard and shop environments.

Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and math skills necessary for establishing or determining ships lines relative to positioning components for installation. Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply them as needed with the appropriate training.

The ideal candidate will cultivate and promote a positive TEAM environment, be highly motivated, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will establish and maintain strong working relationship with the AIT team to ensure performance in safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

This individual will work collaboratively with on-site supervision to achieve department goals and requires a strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and accountability to achieve overall success.

Must be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certification

Must be able to qualify and maintain Fall Arrest Protection certification

Must be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certification

Must be able to qualify and maintain the EB Heavy Metals Program requirements

Travel will be required to offsite locations to support coordination and oversight of related activities.

Qualifications

Required:

High School diploma/GED or equivalent

1+ year of experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and manufacturing industry

1+ years of electrical experience

Preferred:

4+ years of electrical experience

Knowledge of SP/SSP's, DIs and SIs

Minimum of 1 year working in an industrial marine environment

RADCON, and QA experience in maritime environment

Skills

Ability to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task is a must.

Must have the ability to perform the functions of the craft to the proper procedures and policies in a safe manner.
