The Labor Market Specialist Supervisor directs the daily operations of the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) program within the Research and Statistics unit. This position manages staff, leads the processing of survey data, and ensures all data submissions and publications adhere to state and federal standards. Some travel may be required.
The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is a key division of Louisiana Works managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state's economic growth.

Six semester hours in economics with an additional six semester hours in a combination of economics, math, computer science, statistics, or marketing plus one of the following:Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, or statistical analysis plus three years of experience in statistical analysis, marketing, information technology, workforce development, public benefits claims examining, or human resources; ORSix years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in statistical analysis, marketing, information technology, workforce development, public benefits claims examining, or human resources; OR;A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in statistical analysis, marketing, information technology, workforce development, public benefits claims examining, or human resources; ORAn advanced degree in economics, business administration, public administration, math, statistics, or information systems and decision sciences plus two years of experience in statistical analysis, marketing, information technology, workforce development, public benefits claims examining, or human resources.

• Direct daily operations of the OEWS unit, ensuring all survey processing, data collection, and estimate publications adhere to BLS, OMB, and state standards.
• Supervise and review the data analysis, occupational coding (SOC system), and industry classifications completed by lower-level staff to maintain high statistical reliability and minimize data suppression.
• Manage, evaluate, and mentor Labor Market Specialists and Statistical Technicians; establish workload distribution, monitor deliverable goals, and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Develop and oversee training programs for specialists regarding SOC coding methodologies, address refinement, employer outreach tactics, and statistical software tools.
• Serve as the primary technical expert for complex or ambiguous occupational/industry classifications, handling employer communications and escalated data discrepancies.
• Maintain a strong working relationship and communicate regularly with Bureau of Labor Statistics staff.
• Coordinate cross-unit support with related Research & Statistics programs (LAUS, CES, QCEW, OSHS, and LMI).
• Review and give final approval for OEWS estimates before publication on the Louisiana Works website.
• Track unit metrics, monitor sample progress across survey panels, and report program performance and operational needs to senior management.
• Support other Research & Statistics programs and units as needed, including the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program; the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program; the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) program; the Occupational Safety and Health Statistics (OSHS) program, and the Labor Market Information (LMI) unit.
• Other Duties as assigned, Travel maybe required.
