Job Description
This position is responsible for the proper administration of the Attendance Rules, Workers Compensation and Medical Leaves. Responsible for the supervision of the TIMES and Medical Leave Unit and will provide training and oversight. Will complete annual URC reports, annual DOSH reports, and resolve worklist items such as leave with pay or FMLA. Provide customer service to employees and supervisors when issues arise about their time, employment verification or medical leave issues.

Open Competitive:
Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1, NS (equivalent to SG-14):
Four years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2, NS (equivalent to SG-16):
Five years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
Human Resources Specialist 1, SG-18:
Six years of experience performing and supervising the performance of various human resources activities such as staffing services, which consist of recruitment, examination, and placement activities; position classification and compensation; and employee services such as employee benefit, health and safety, employee counseling, and employee recognition.
Substitution:
An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.
Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
