*Position is being cross posted for both Albany and Utica. Only one intern will be selected.
The Industry Inspection Bureau is part of the Division of Safety& Health within the NYS Department of Labor. The Industry Inspection Bureau provides regulatory oversight for amusement devices, public assembly, aerial devices, explosives, pyrotechnics, window cleaners, ski tows and tramways, elevators, glass doors, coin-operated machinery, funhouses and high voltage proximity.
The Industry Inspection Bureau intern will learn the basics of regulatory licensing process while working with inspectors to streamline information tracking and conversion to digital recordkeeping.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in creating SharePoint for Industry Inspection. Organize record keeping for licensing and permitting into a consistent centralized system.
• Assist in organizing existing shared folder to move necessary files to SharePoint.
• Assist in modernization initiative for recordkeeping.
• Create systems to track staff training.
• Assist program in creating a centralized training database to ensure consistency throughout the state.
• Create a centralized list of all explosive magazines and fees associated with them. Industry Inspection is responsible for inspecting and certifying magazines used for the storage of explosives statewide. These magazines can have fees associated with them. Currently there is no central location that stores this data. Intern will help to create a master list.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university, or graduate program outside of New York State*
• Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university(completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent
