Job Description
Performs entry-level medical assistant work; will perform selected clinical duties under the delegation of physician or RN; will perform administrative and basic patient care.

Collects, reports, and documents data during patient intake
Collects, performs, documents specimen collection, including but not limited to; blood, urine, stool, tissue, etc.
Performs clinical duties as assigned including, but not limited to, preparing patients for exams, treatments, etc.
Administers medications to patients
Distributes standardized patient education materials and diagnostic referral forms
Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
Follows established departmental policies and procedures
Performs clerical duties such as appointment setting answering and directing telephone calls, taking messages, maintaining medical records, filing patient charts
Maintains inventory management of medical and office supplies
Performs related work as assigned
Graduation from a high school or equivalent (GED)
Certificate from a Medical Assistant Program and must have current CPR Certification
One (1) year of Medical assistant related experience preferred
Certificates, Licenses and Registration:
Must have a current valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license
Must be able to be insured by the County's insurance carrier
Knowledge of operational medical equipment
Knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of all body systems
Excellent written and verbal communication
Able to work with medically related computer programs
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, staff, and the public
