The City of Greensboro is seeking a dependable and detail-focused Water Accounts Field Representative to support accurate billing, responsible water use, and customer service across the community. This role is hands-on, field-based work that ensures our water system operates fairly and efficiently for every resident and business.

As a Water Accounts Field Representative, you will be responsible for reading approximately 107,000 water meters using a mobile reading and collections system. Your work ensures accurate consumption data, timely billing, and proper account management. This is a position for someone who values consistency, accountability, and working independently in the field. Ability to make decisions and adapt procedures to resolve issues or problems; effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with customers and city staff, along with the ability to multitask and organize schedules.
Compensation and Benefits:
Estimated Starting Hiring Salary: $44,704.00 - $50,286.00 Full Salary Range: $44,704.00 - $68,389.00 Annually

About the Role:The Water Accounts Field Representative performs a variety of field duties, including:
• Reading water meters using a mobile reading and collections system to maintain billing schedules
• Conducting investigations into high and low water consumption
• Performing cut-ons and cut-offs for customers moving in or out of residences
• Disconnecting and reconnecting delinquent accounts, including NSF checks and illegal consumption
• Checking for leaks, cross connections, and unauthorized or illegal devices
• Ensuring meter readings are completed accurately and on schedule
• Ability to make decisions and adapt procedures to resolve issues or problems.
• Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with customers and city staff.
• Ability to multitask and organize schedules.
• This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions while meeting productivity expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma/GED
• "OR" an equivalency of 3 years of education and 6+ years of "related" technical and customer service experience (i.e., mobile meter reading, cut-ons and cut-offs for new/existing residents, etc.)
• Valid Driver's License
• 4+ years of "related" field, technical, and customer service experience (i.e., mobile meter reading, cut-ons and cut-offs for new/existing residents, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with Utility billing applications (EnQuesta)
• Experience with Mobile reading and AMI technical systems
• Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications
