About the Agency

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is responsible for providing a safe intermodal transportation network that is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained in an effective, cost-efficient, and environmentally sensitive manner.

About the Position

A seasoned level engineering position accountable for complex design and design review in a designated engineering discipline. Performs project planning, budgeting, and project management of complex engineering projects. Participates in the setting of parameters for engineering specifications. Participates in the preparation of new rules and regulations and in revisions to existing rules and regulations. Reviews proposed changes to statutes and their impact. Mentors lower-level professional individual contributors. Has decision-making authority within approved parameters on complex /large impact projects and complex/high impact rules and regulations compliance. Serves as a source of testimony and expert advice to entities such as the Legislature, Committees, Courts, Commissions, and external engineering firms. May supervise engineering technicians.

To be successful in this role, you will need a strong work ethic, the ability to work well with others, and a commitment to contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, licensure as a professional engineer, and 4-6 years of experience.
