Position Summary
The Kitchen Steward is a non student hourly role responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, dishware, utensils and food preparation areas in accordance with health and safety standards.

Essential Duties
1. The Steward will support the culinary team by ensuring a steady supply of clean pots, pans and tools during service, helping kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently.
2. Handles proper storage, organization, and disposal of kitchen waste, supplies, and cleaning chemicals
3. Assists with receiving and storing deliveries, and may support basic food prep or porter duties as assigned
Decision Making
1. Exercises judgment in prioritizing which items to clean first based on kitchen demand and service timing, without requiring constant supervision
2. Determines when equipment or dishware does not meet sanitation standards and takes corrective action, i.e. re-washing, reporting damage, or removing unsafe items from use
3. Makes independent decisions about proper use and dilution of cleaning chemicals to ensure safety and compliance with health codes
4. Escalates equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or supply shortages to a supervisor or kitchen manager when issues fall outside routine responsibilities
Salary Range
$18.00-$18.00
