What You Will Do
As a Project Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will:
Author Design and Project Engineering portions of bids & proposals for commercial seating Modifications and Upgrades (MAU) programs
Perform design and packaging studies utilizing CAD to ensure fit, form and function of seating assemblies and aircraft seating layouts.
Utilize AI and other optimization tools to optimize processes and ultimately reduce the average turnaround time for Engineering quotations.
Operate within a team environment, working cross-functionally to provide input on design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
Perform design studies to validate project proposals and support development activities.
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for potential MAU programs to be included in bids & proposals.
Summarize key metrics for Engineering quotations, including non-recurring Engineering hours, hard costs, and recurring kits that will be quotes to commercial airlines.
What You Will Learn
Mechanical Design: Enhance your ability to create designs that are efficient, reliable, and tailored for manufacturability and maintainability.
CAD Proficiency: Develop expertise in using NX software to prepare and release precise mechanical designs.
Bids & Proposals experience: Supporting the Sales and Business Development teams with drafting, checking, and releasing Engineering bids & proposals
Material and Supplier Evaluation: Learn how to assess materials and parts and build strong communication skills for supplier collaboration.
Team Collaboration: Gain experience working in a cross-functional team environment, contributing to design solutions and participating in collaborative design reviews.
Engineering Analysis: Strengthen your ability to perform detailed engineering calculations and support analytical designs through problem-solving.
Validation Tools and Methodologies: Master the use of essential engineering tools such as prototype builds and DFMA to ensure robust and high-performing designs.
Aerospace Applications: Develop an understanding of the unique challenges of aerospace engineering and how FAA requirements drive a variety of testing to replicate "real world scenarios" to ensure passenger safety.
Qualifications You Must Have
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, Catia, AutoCAD, Autodesk or equivalent
Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and/or Outlook)
Experience managing projects and working on cross-functional teams
A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience

Onsite
: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
