About the Agency
The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. It is the mission of MDRS to provide appropriate and comprehensive services in a timely and effective manner. Programs and services assist individuals with disabilities to gain employment, retain employment, and to live independently. About the Position
This position is within Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services' (MDRS) Office of Program Integrity and functions as a Contract Monitor. Duties performed in this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Conduct comprehensive desk and field audits of MDRS contracts, including vendor deliverables, compliance with deliverable timelines, and payment accuracy.
• Review contract registry, track allocation/expenditures, and monitor contract amendments.
• Review relevant documentation (e.g., AACE, MAGIC, invoices) and coordinate with contract and finance departments.
• Perform site visits, conduct interviews with staff, clients, and vendors to validate service delivery.
• Communicate findings and flag concerns proactively to program leadership and agency management.
• Support audit and compliance readiness by preparing documentation, maintaining internal reporting tools, and providing timely updates on monitoring activities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to accomplish the Office of Program Integrity goals.
What you'll need to be Successful
Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple ongoing monitoring activities varying from one program to another; Strong time-management skills and capacity to balance detailed desk reviews and on-site monitoring; Analytical ability, intuition, and logic to evaluate contract compliance and detect risks; Proficiency in both oral and written communication to prepare accurate reports, document findings, and communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and management; Technical knowledge to apply auditing, evaluation, and research methods in reviewing expenditures, deliverables, and service outcomes; Professionalism and confidence to interact with government agencies, vendors, professional associations, and clients, representing MDRS objectively and effectively.

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 3-6 years of experience.
