PAY AND FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) STATUS:Pay Range: 414Hourly Rate: $22.65 - $35.06FLSA Status: Non-ExemptThe normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City's step placement policy.ELIGIBILITY LIST PREFERENCE ORDERFull-time City employees will receive preference in the following order: major division first, then department, then all other full-time City employees. Part-time/year-round City employees will receive preference next. This means employees in this job classification can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.JOB SUMMARYThis posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Grounds Management Division of the Parks and Recreation Department within the City of Oklahoma City. An eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies per provisions of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Collective Bargaining Agreement. An employee in this classification may work alone, as a crew member, or perform as a temporary lead worker to complete the assigned tasks. The primary responsibility of the Parks Trades and Grounds Worker II is to perform journey-level carpentry, masonry/concrete finishing, painting, or welding duties.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPerforming journey-level carpentry, masonry/concrete finishing, painting, or welding.Performing chemical spraying of vegetation.Performing a range of tasks using equipment such as Interstate or boom mowers, slope mowers, boom sprayers, tractors with attachments, front-end loaders, skidders, backhoes, excavators, pickups, flatbeds, dump trucks, crack-filling machines, push mowers and lawn edgers.Assuming responsibility for following all safety and maintenance procedures relating to the proper operation and condition of assigned equipment.Assuming lead worker responsibilities, overseeing other employees, equipment, and ensuring the successful completion of projects.Completing daily work orders, safety reports, and other job-related documentation.Performing other duties as assigned.VETERANS PREFERENCEHonorably discharged veterans of the United States Active Duty Armed Forces, National Guard, and Reserve Forces who are not currently employed full-time by the City of Oklahoma City and who meet the qualifications for the position shall be given preference. To receive preference, veterans must submit verification of honorable discharge from the United States military service (Department of Defense Form DD214 or NGB Form 22) prior to the closing date of the vacancy announcement. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPossession of a valid Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Chemical Applicator License (category 3A).Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).NOTE: Employees will be required to possess or obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver License within twelve (12) months as well as a valid Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Chemical Applicator License (category 3A) within six (6) months from the date of hire/promotion/transfer/demotion.
